The New Hill Development Corporation, James Ryan, the President of the University of Virginia, and Pamela Sutton-Wallace, President and CEO of the UVA Health System will co-convene an invitation-only high-level meeting entitled, "Social and Economic Equity in Charlottesville: Creating an Investment Framework for Historically Underrepresented Communities” on Friday, December 14, 2018 from 9am to 1pm.
To highlight the importance of community partnerships, we are delighted the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation has agreed to host this meeting at their offices located at 114 4th Street, SE, Charlottesville, VA 22902. Representatives from Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), Social Entrepreneurship @UVA and the City of Charlottesville will also be in attendance to share their subject matter expertise and show their support.
Our goal is to convene public and private partners who recognize community redevelopment investment opportunities in affordable housing, entrepreneurship, healthy communities and financial literacy education. The aim of this gathering is to forge partnerships between impact investors, banks, foundations, community development financial institutions and anchor institutions to address historic economic inequities by through innovative collaboration.
Presentations will be made on the economic and social changes underway in Charlottesville followed by a strategic discussion on how to formally collaborate to further develop sustainable growth in underrepresented communities.
